On 6th April 2022, the members of Stewards of Eden held a session on the ‘journey of climate change’ at ACJ Karama school, located in Muhanga City in the Southern Province of Rwanda. An overview of the global climate situation was facilitated by David and Fidele (SOE). Later young people shared real-life stories of the effects of climate change in their communities and homes. Using a game (Climate Fresk Cards) developed by a French teacher in Paris, participants learned about the root causes of climate change and the catastrophic chain of effects that follow.
Participants also learned about the basic science behind climate change and what sort of means and solutions young people can onboard in the campaign against the crisis.
Two youth leaders (aged 18 & 20) will now work with their teachers and age- cohorts, to set up an environment hub to farther the sharing of awareness and to use art, music, story-telling and more to become active players against climate breakdown. This is a gift planet, and we all have a duty to protect it. Pope Francis & St. Francis of Assisi said it better: "Laudato Si Mi signore". = Praise be to you my Lord, (as in praise be to The One Who Created such a wonderful world).
